I think the big problem with having a blog is for some reason you feel bad if you don’t write anything. I don’t like feeling bad, but I also can’t think of anything really interesting I want to broadcast to the world!
It’s kind of like Twitter / Facebook / social-network-of-choice. What kind of person feels the need to broadcast every mundane activity or thought to everyone they have ever met (and probably zillions of people they have no idea about)? Obviously I’m in the minority, ’cause lots of people think it’s great. Must be something wrong with me.
I ended up joining Twitter because my employer popped up with an official feed. A couple of us figured we should sign up just so we could keep one eye on what they were pushing out to the world.
We decided to try it out, and publish stuff. “Stuff” is the right word here; there wasn’t anything of any real interest. While both of us were about to go on holidays – and should in theory have interesting stuff to post – neither of us could do it. We’re just not the type of person that is so into self-promotion that we can write about nothing just for the sake of getting something else online.
And yes, I realise the irony of this post.
